10 Valentines Gifts for ADHD Folks

If your partner has ADHD or you are shopping for yourself, I thought it might be nice to compile a list of the best ADHD related gifts I have received and hope that you might find these helpful as well. For ADHD folks, I like to get them practical gifts that will help them function in their lives. Honestly, as I have gotten older, a coffee mug or candle is nice.. but items that would be functional are really worth their weight in gold for me.

These gifts vary in price to provide you with options to fit your budget…

1.       The Bullet Journal
No other item has changed my life more then the Bullet Journal. This , I admit at first, intimidating, but yet easy to use system for organizing tasks, dates and projects has revolutionized how I work. I utilize the one straight from Bullet Journal themselves as it has quick start guides and instructions right in the journal so I never have to leave the journal to get questions answered. For someone with ADHD, this productivity tool actually can become a mindfulness exercise in tracking numerous tasks and capturing any incoming tasks that you might otherwise miss. Once you start using it, the system become second nature

2. 5 Pack Lined Spiral Bound Journal Set
For those who want a journal for every aspect of their life, this set provides you a color coded collection of notebooks to use for a variety of purposes. For my work, I keep a notebook per client, and use it bullet journal style so I can track tasks and actions related to my clients. This allows me to keep all of their notes in one spot and refer to it in session. For those who manage projects or just prefer more granular categorization, this is a great option that are small enough to fit in a purse or brief case

3.       Power Brick – Sounds like kind of a lame gift.. right? Wrong. How often have you been somewhere and your phone is low on battery ? Having a power brick is super handy, I keep one charged at all times just in case of a power outage even. Getting portable power is a must for ADHD impacted individuals as we ALWAYS forget to charge our devices!

4.       Standing Desk Adapter – For those (like me) with inattentive type adhd, a standing desk is a life changing item. I have no real scientific studies to back up this statement, but I will say it anywhere. Having a standing desk has increased my productivity by at least 20%. For whatever reason, standing gives me more focus. I am able to also fidget and move around instead of sitting in a chair, frozen. Plus, lets face it.. sitting is horrible for your body and posture. Standing will provide additional support, balance training and in fact, will burn calories while you are working. You can adapt your desk to be standing using a platform like the one below that I love as it supports two monitors and has a keyboard tray with more surface area for storage. For someone with ADHD, having room for your items is essential.

5.       Nespresso Vertuo Next Coffee and Espresso Machine – For those, like me, who tend to consume copious amounts of coffee all day.. this machine will give you a really enjoyable coffee experience. Nespresso creates coffee shop style, foamy goodness cups of coffee for you to enjoy. They work off a variety of pods that create from small espresso shots to full size cups of coffee in a variety of roasts – from light to dark to INTENSE roasts. The pods are also recyclable which always makes me feel good not adding more trash to the world.

6.       Pill Dispenser  - SMART – How often do you ask yourself “Did I take my medication?” Yea.. me too. This smart pill dispenser will end that anxiety. Using an app and wifi powered, you will always know if you took your medication and be able to track refills even with the app. Good for your meds and any supplements you might also be taking to manage your ADHD. This is a great gift for anyone relying on medications

7.       TRX Go Suspension System – There are studies that tell us how beneficial exercise is for ADHD, and the TRX Go system is an all in one gym. For less then the cost of a year of gym memberships, this system will provide you with a full body workout right in your home or backyard. Thirty minutes of exercise will garner you up to two hours of focus… plus you get in shape and feel better about yourself when you are participating in your own self care

8.       Phillips Hue Starter Kit – This system has changed my life in that I am now able to fully manage all the lights in the house from my phone (or Alexa). How often do you just fall asleep on the couch watching TV or just forget to turn off that light ? Well, Hue provides you a whole world of capability to manage your utility bill. You can set timers and routines to turn off lights at night and turn them on in the morning. You can remotely manage your house from any internet connection via Alexa to make sure you actually turned off the lights, or turn them on as you come home. You can also create scenes with the color bulbs to help increase focus or just for fun. There are endless possibilities for this system.

9.       RX BARS – Ok this is really random.. but lets face it.. we forget to eat. Especially when I was on stimulate meds.. I really forgot to eat! I keep bars at my desk both at home and in my office. This makes a great little gift for the ADHD person in your life. Quick, easy snacks are vital. I love RX BARS because they provide natural fuel – nothing but the good stuff in these things. For my ADHD, I find its important to stay away from dyes and processed sugars.. these are all natural. They are so good in fact, I use them for endurance racing.

10.       Tile Gift Pack – This is a MUST for anyone with ADHD. How often do you loose your keys? Or your wallet? For me this was a daily occurrence.. enter.. the TILE. With a few swipes of my phone I now know where to find these items quickly and easily. The will even sound an audible alert so you can really locate things. I once lost my wallet, I had placed it atop of my car for some reason and drove off. I was traveling at the time and once in the hotel, realized my wallet was missing. I pulled up the tile. It was down the road off a random sidewalk. I went out and was able to get to the location and using the beep function and find it. I was lucky, it flew off my car and into a bush.. no one stole anything. But imagine if I did not have the Tile in my wallet? I would have never found it and would thus be stressing the whole time I was out of town about getting access to cards and cash. Let alone my ID ! The Tile, for me, has been life changing and I use a slim one in my wallet, then one on my keys, one on my briefcase and a spare just in case..
